TDS represents the total concentration of dissolved substances such as minerals, salts, and metals in water, expressed in milligrams per liter (mg/L) or parts per million (PPM).
Lower TDS levels indicate purer water that can hydrate the body’s cells more effectively.
Higher TDS levels may suggest the presence of harmful contaminants, which can affect both health and water absorption at the cellular level.
According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the maximum recommended TDS level in drinking water is 500 mg/L (500 PPM).
